The Los Alamitos School District, formed in 1983, serves the cities of Los Alamitos and Seal Beach and the community of Rossmoor. Year after year, district students consistently score in the highest percentiles in the California Assessment Program (CAP). Instructional programs are offered at five elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school.

Boasting exam scores in the 95th percentile statewide, Los Alamitos High School has qualified as a National School of Excellence and a California Distinguished School. 80% of Los Alamitos High students complete the entry requirements for the University of California and more than 85% continue their educations after high school.

The Los Alamitos School District is also home to the Orange County High School of the Arts (OCHSA). Modeled after other highly successful programs, OCHSA allows students with exceptional talent to develop their skills in dancing, singing and acting while pursuing a rigorous academic program.

Los Alamitos is located just minutes away from Southern California’s many outstanding attractions. Disneyland, Disney’s California Adventure, Knotts Berry Farm and the Aquarium of the Pacific are all within a few minutes’ drive. Within the town itself is Los Alamitos Race Course, which hosts world-class quarter horse racing. In addition, Los Alamitos is home to the USA Water Polo National Aquatic Center. The center serves as the training ground for the U.S. Women’s Olympic Water Polo Team.

As far as outdoor recreation is concerned, Los Alamitos is second to none. The Cypress Golf Club and the Navy Golf Course - located at the Joint Forces Training Base - offer outstanding courses. The park system is extensive, with parks ranging in size from 6-acre Little Cottonwood Park to 1.7-acre Orville R. Lewis Park. Of course, the beautiful Pacific Ocean is nearby as well, providing opportunities for surfing, swimming, boating or just relaxing in the sun.
